Stopover in Tokyo: what to do and when to leave
Haneda is much closer to Tokyo than Narita, but leaving the international terminal still involves immigration, train, checks and a conservative return. Asakusa is the most compact getaway; If the margin is narrow, T3 offers sufficient rest and services without leaving the airport.
With less than 7 hours, it is better to stay in Haneda. From 8–10 hours Asakusa can fit if you can enter Japan, your luggage remains at your destination and you have a protected return to T3.

Frequently asked questions
Before deciding
Can I leave Haneda during a layover?
Yes, if you meet the entry requirements for Japan, your luggage continues to your destination and you have ample time to return to T3, clear security and reach the gate.
How long does it take from Haneda to Asakusa?
The Keikyu Line allows you to arrive by rail link in around 35–50 minutes depending on the service; adds immigration, access to the platform and the final journey on foot.
What to do with an 8-hour layover in Tokyo Haneda?
Asakusa and Senso-ji are a compact outing when entry and time permit. With a smaller scale, lounge, transit hotel and restaurants in T3 reduce the risk.
