Stopover in Mexico City : what to do and when to leave
The AICM is inside the city, but one exit adds immigration, traffic, Metro or taxi and a cautious return to the terminal. The Zócalo is the most concentrated route; avoid crossing the city with a tight stopover.
With less than 8 hours, stay in MEX. From 9–11 hours the Zócalo can fit if you can enter Mexico, the baggage is checked through to the final destination and you reserve three hours to return. Rome Norte is better at 12 hours or more.
